A Birth Doula is a professional pregnancy companion whose goal is to help parents have a safe, healthy and positive labour experience. Many parents look to hire a doula to help ensure they get the birth experience they want, which can include reduced medical interventions and the confidence to make informed decisions during your labour. Your doula is typically by your side during active labour until your baby is born. Providing support in establishing your birth preferences, a doula can also offer many non-medical pain management techniques for labour. The right doula won't judge your decisions about pain relief or anything else, rather they provide reassurance and empower you to make the decisions that best suit you and your baby.

A Postnatal (or Postpartum) Doula provides care and support in the home after you've given birth. The ideal time to book a postnatal doula is within three months after birth. A Postnatal Doula can provide support that is practical, informational and emotional. Things like light home duties such as cleaning and preparing home-cooked meals, recommendations around infant care relating to feeding and routines, or support in processing your recent birth experience and answering any questions you may have. A doula is a great way to help take care of you when you most need it, after becoming a new parents. Early parenthood a time when everyone is focused on your new baby. You are also going through a big transition and a Doula can be a wonderful help in providing that extra support you may need.
